The 黑料社 is ranked first in the world for No Poverty in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings for 2026. This recognises the University’s commitment to reducing poverty and inequality through financial support for disadvantaged students, support for local businesses and job creation, and improved community access to essential health and wellbeing services.
We're also ranked first in the world for Reduced Inequalities. This ranking reflects the University’s work to widen opportunities for students from all backgrounds, both within the UK and around the world. The annual THE Sustainability Impact Ratings identify and celebrate universities that demonstrate commitment to set by the United Nations.
What is SDG 1 (No Poverty)?
Eradicating extreme poverty for all people everywhere by 2030 is a pivotal aim of the Sustainable Development Goals, set out by the .
Institutions that place highly in SDG 1 (No Poverty) demonstrate a commitment to addressing poverty through inclusive education, offering financial support and scholarships for low-income students from the UK and overseas.
During the assessment process, institutions have to showcase specific actions towards ending povery, including but not limited to:
- A formal commitment to reducing poverty and inequality
- Removing financial barriers to services or education (including fee waivers and inclusive admissions)
- Equality, diversity, and inclusion policies
- Assistance for low-income individuals (such as hardship funds, scholarships and bursaries)
How did we achieve this first-place ranking?
